Then, why do so many adult leaders make the mistake of thinking they can lead without bringing change? "Follow the Leader" would be the world's most boring game if the leader just stood where she was, blinking at her followers. Fact is, inherent in the whole idea of leadership is that change must occur.
Fact two: the leader needs to know where they're going. The best games of "Follow the Leader" are the ones where the leader has thought about where to go and has devised creative challenges for the group to overcome. It's not much fun to follow the leader around in a circle on the blacktop. The fun starts when the leader goes somewhere unexpected or difficult.
Adult leaders would do well to think about where they are really hoping to lead their followers. "What will it look like when we get there?" is a question every follower deserves to have answered
